Communication Server - Technical Manual
System Requirements

System Requirements

The servers must meet the minimum operating system requirements described here. The minimum recommended hardware requirements are also shown.

Operating Systems

Windows Server Core installations are not supported

Windows Server Small Business/Foundation/Essential versions are not supported

Hardware Recommendations

The minimum recommended hardware is dependent on the type of calls that are to be recorded. The recorder server should have a RAID1 disk drive partition for the operating system and application files and a separate RAID1 partition for the call recordings.

The number of concurrent calls being recorded and how long they are to be kept will determine the actual amount of disk space required.

System Limits
Hardware Requirements

Small:

  • 1,200 calls per hour
  • 16 Concurrent Call Recordings
  • CPU: 1 x Intel Core i3 dual core @ 3.3 GHz
  • RAM: 8GB
  • HDD: 100GB + 1GB for each million call records
  • HDD: 1TB for each 175,000 hours of call audio data
  • SQL Server: Express

Medium:

  • 2,400 calls per hour
  • 60 Concurrent Call Recordings
  • CPU: 1 x Intel Xeon quad core @ 3.1 GHz
  • RAM: 16GB
  • HDD: 100GB + 1GB for each million call records
  • HDD: 1TB for each 175,000 hours of call audio data
  • SQL Server: Express
  • NIC: 1Gb

Large:

  • 4,200 calls per hour
  • 250 Concurrent Call Recordings
  • CPU: 2 x Intel Xeon quad core @ 3.1 GHz
  • RAM: 32GB
  • HDD: 100GB + 1GB for each million call records
  • HDD: 1TB for each 175,000 hours of call audio data
  • SQL Server: Full
  • NIC: 1Gb

Virtualization Environments

The recording servers support virtualized environments only when the recording method does not require any specific hardware. The table below shows the supported configurations.

Device Type Supported?
ISDN Trunks Not supported
Analogue Trunks Not supported
Basic Rate ISDN Trunks Not supported
SIP Trunks (Synway not Hyper-V) Supported
Mitel SRC Devices Supported
Digital Extensions Not supported
SIP/IP Extensions Supported

The following virtualization environments have been tested and are supported.

Environment Supported?
VMWare ESXi v5.1, 5.5, 6.0, 6.5 No supported
Hyper-V 2012 R2, 2016 Supported (not Synway SIP trunks)

V-Motion is not supported and the Server will need to be shutdown moved and restarted

On a virtual machine we do not support saving/resuming the state of a virtual machine and these should be shutdown
