E1 & T1 PCIx Format

The image below shows a side and front view of a full-length PCI-X 1 port (30/24 channel) E1/T1 voice interface card. The PCI-X card requires 2 ports to be able to record a single E1/T1. The first is used for the transmit side of the recording and the second port for the receive side. A maximum of 2 E1/T1s can be recorded on these cards.

The PCIe cards have the transmit and receive combined into a single port.

 

The cabling options for this card require a specific type of cable, as shown in Figure 4.7, that splits of the transmit and receive sides of the T1/E1.

The use of the ISDN splitter in Figure 4.4 is the same as for the PCIe card connection.
