Overview

Web browser integration is provided by the use of the Xarios Communicator Browser Add-on and provides integration services to enable automatic mute and un mute of call recordings based on a specific web page that the user has open.

Requirements

There are several requirements that need to be met before the Xarios Communicator can be used.

  1. Minimum version of Firefox v3.6.

Installation

The installation and configuration of the add-on needs to be performed for each user. Depending on the IT policies in place, this will determine the most appropriate method for rolling out.

The add-on is provided in the form of a standard Firefox add-on XPI file. To download the add-on open the link shown below in Firefox and replace <recorderserver> with the actual DNS or IP Address of the server with the Integration role.

Firefox will then download the add-on as shown.

Once downloaded, select the add-on and click on the Install button and Firefox will then prompt the user to restart Firefox to complete the installation.

Client Settings

There are two settings that need to be configured on each Firefox client. These can be accessed from the toolbar option by clicking onto the Settings menu.

If the toolbar is not displayed then this has been configured not to be shown on the Client Settings section Show Settings setting. When opened this will display the settings windows.

My Endpoint: This is the endpoint number of the extension associated with this user. This setting can also be configured using the extensions.XariosCommunicator.endpoint Firefox preference.

Service URL: This is the URL of the server, contact your administrator for details. This setting can also be configured using the extensions.XariosCommunicator.serviceURL Firefox preference.

Notifications

The add-on can be configured to give the user feedback or to work silently without the user being aware of what is happening. This is configured on the Client Settings section Show Notifications setting. When this is enabled the user will see information on the status bar.

Diagnostics

To be able to diagnose any problems, the add-on can have a diagnostic mode enabled. This can be configured on the Client Settings section Debug Mode setting. When this is enabled the add-on toolbar will be displayed.

Selecting Show monitored URLs will display a list of the regular expressions that are to be used to find matching URLs

Selecting Show currently open URLs will display a list of the URLs that are currently open, including any iFrames.

When the add-on matches any of the open URLs with the URL regular expressions they will then be displayed to the right of the toolbar.

In this example the URL regular expressions configured and matched were:

Regular Expression Matching URLs
^http://www\.google\.co\.uk http://www.google.co.uk/
^(http://|https://)(.)*(xarios\.com) http://www.xarios.com/uk/
https://www.xarios.com/uk/
